I am almost back....

If you haven't been around long you may need the following disclaimer.  I am a blogger, just not on this site LOL  I have a real job plus a real blog that I maintain on issues related to local mass transportation.

What this site is is a repository of my memories so that when I do my freelance writing and speaking engagements I have a place that jogs my memory.  My speaking gigs to date are primarily at Universities and are on the topics of journalism and entrepreneurship.  I do a few free speaking gigs each year teaching people how to craft pre-event and post event press releases.  And when my daughter reaches high school, I think I'd like to begin speaking on family/work balance and homeschooling.  By then I should have it down to a science. Now, not so much LOL

But  I  wanted you to know that I still appreciate all of the followers and the lone commenter LOL

Just so you know that even when I'm absent from the blog you are still present in my heart!

What's Hot Wednesday - America's Best Dance Crew

ABDC, as the hip one's call it, is BACK!  This is really one of the last fun family shows out and suprisingly it is on MTV.

If you haven't watched it with a child you are missing a treat.  My 4 yo and her 5 yo friends love this show and crack me up imitating the moves which are all G-rated, though admittedly a bit dangerous.

You can hit up YouTube! and put in ABDC + Jabbawockees or ABDC + beat freakz and see some of the best performances.

There is hardly anything that I can watch with my 4 yo that we both enjoy.

Recently I tried to watch AFV with her and she CRACKED UP! She totally got it. There were a few too many "nut" injuries, but it was fun to watch her laugh!

Family Fun Day! Fishing

So, this weekend we went fishing for the first time as a family. We had to find something fun to do as a substitute for going to homecoming. I got hubby a liscense (for us both) for Father's Day and he has been but this was my first time going. I have been fishing but have never caught anything and this day was no exception, lol! 

We got baby girl her own pink chair and a bamboo pole (no reel), I packed the cooler and we were good. Speaking of coolers....we were the ONLY PEOPLE, besides one Asian family, that packed a lunch. Every person I saw (read: white), came out to fish with McDonald's. That's not even the closes restaurant to the park. I wondered if it is some KY tradition we missed in our Welcome Packet, lol.

BabyGirl caught her first fish and the first fish of the day.

But she began to get tired and when she caught her second fish, she didn't like it.

Then it got really bad!! LOL!

She recovered and thanked me all evening for taking her fishing. It was fun and we'll be doing more now that the weather is breaking. It's too damn hot to fish otherwise. This park only has "sun up" to 

"sun down" fishing so it's ok this time of year. My husband caught a baby catfish too. We kept them all in a bucket but threw them all back before we left. They were too small to keep and we don't eat any of the fish that were out in the lake.
