Ramadan Mubarak! Crafts!

I have struggled in the past for a meaningful way to observe Ramadan and have it reflected in our home.

The purpose of decorations is an acknowledgement of the celebratory nature of an event.

My concern has always been that I did not want our Ramadan celebration to mirror the reckless spending and comedic displays I've witnessed during Christ-mas time.

On my plate...suhoor.

One of the meals on our menu this month…
French toast w/natural syrup
Cantaloupe and blueberries
Lots of water

My simple French Toast recipe:

6 slices of thick bread (I use Trader Joe's Challa bread)
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Sprinkle with powdered sugar
Serves 3

Directions: Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon in shallow dish. I use a glass pie dish.

Soak bread in mixture for about 45 seconds on each side before placing in buttered skillet or griddle.

Turn once when brown.

Remove and place on serving plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Serve with syrup.

Teach Your Children About Fasting

Ramadan Mubarak! May you be enjoying the Peace and Blessing of Allah during this blessed month, whether you call yourself Muslim or not.

I'm dedicating much of the month to sharing Muslim resources online.

I hope you enjoy this cute video about a six year old boys attempt at fasting.

Ramadan Prep

It seems as if my biggest struggle during Ramadan is time management.

This year I'm striving to pre-plan more because I usually forget that the first week is pretty exhausting as I adjust to rising extra early for our pre-dawn meal.

This weekend I'm working on a 30 day meal plan that can work for me all year long! I am praying for success!

Also, I want to begin creating Ramadan home decor that we can save from year to year and create family heirlooms. Pinterest here I come!
