Fascinating Friday - Worthy Character - Self-Control

The first step to developing a worthy character is self-control.

You need self-control to manage your life successfully, to keep commitments, manage time and money, control thoughts and words, subdue appetites, school feelings, overcome temptations and reach goals.

When you determine to improve your life or pursue a worthy goal, opposition appears in the form of self-doubt, discouragement, and the temptation to quit.

Here are the keys to  gaining self-control:
1. Self-worth
2. Fasting and Prayer
3. Train the Will
4. Be Determined

Words to live by, but surprisingly difficult to follow. I think society makes it easy for us to fall because there is always a net.

Self-control is a worthy attribute to cultivate in each of us, but the culture of entitlement that our youth and young adults live in today make it difficult to maintain.

You are both so right. As I study this book I realize how timeless the advice is. We tend to call things "old fashioned" but often that "old time" way of life keeps up on the right path and out of trouble!

Righteous living is challenging but the reward is worth the struggle!
