Homeschool Friday- Afternoon School

The schedule we had for Fall Semester worked well for that time.

Now, with a shift in the economy and a staff reduction, my work load has increased at the office.

I am now doing school in the afternoon as I cook dinner. And then finish up after dinner.

I was originally concerned because I read that people (including children) are very alert in the morning and that is the best time for retention. However, I have witnessed greater concentration from BabyGirl in the evening. I think that now that she's 4 she has her own ideas of what she wants to do during the day (gym class, field trips, playdates). So we do those things and she is fine to settle down for work at night.

It also makes bedtime a lot easier to have her read to me (which is part of her lesson) before bed. She is exhausted from trying to read.

Another bonus is that I can utilize PBS more since her shows conflicted with class time.

Right now we are diggin' Sid the Science Kid and she's getting more out of Sesame Street. She struggles with the concept of rhyming and these shows use rhyme a lot so I'm using all the help I can get.

We're getting into Scrabble and I'll more on that soon.

Happy Homeschooling!!!
